It is encouraging that GIS and Remote Sensing technologies are being increasingly used by Goverment bodies in India. But the gap in understanding is huge. Even to get the correct specifications from the concerned body is a huge task. Recently we finished a project for Meerut Development Authority. They were not clear about what they wanted. We had to ask them countless times about the specifications which was later translated to imply that it was our inexperience.
Then the payment is another story. ‘Time’ stands still in Government bodies. They do it, they do it right but by the time thay do it, it has no meaning.
