I had gone to the bank yesterday for getting our limit increased. And the credit manager made a straight face and said that our turnovers were really not good in 2008-2009. Which is true but then 2008-2009 was a bad year worldwide. It was the year of recession and many companies had folded up. I mean we are at least alive. But I sat in front of him guilty of not having made the company grow, hoping that there was someway of going beyond numbers to showcase the good work we had done, the goodwill we had earned. The only saving grace of the meeting was that I did not go down on my knees to beg. I walked out with as much grace and dignity as I could ( remembering that we were the only company who had not gifted any new year diaries or calendars to any of the bank officials).
Anyway, he has asked us to submit a provisional B.S for 2009-2010 and we are now working on that ( any ray of hope is worthwhile).
No new project in sight or smell. Two new people who had joined left after two days. Amazing. How much pressure can we actually put on anyone in two days flat? Or is it the environment. Mostly anyone who calls himself/herself experienced is used to working in a controlled, monitored environment ( like in a simulated pond with the temperature controlled) and cannot survive in a free space where you just need to perform and do your best, however. There is no one breathing down your back.But maybe that is the problem. Most of us are used to being controlled and following the mantra: ‘fake it to make it’. To cover up for the lack of basic knowledge with an arrogance of attitude to get away.
So I sit here today, a little lost, spaced out and worried. Time to call the HP (Higher Power) in.
