Most of the work in the realm of GIS is given to empanelled companies. And the empanelment is given to companies with a multicrore turnover and a large employee database (in multiples of thousands). So where is the opportunity for an SSI unit? Most of the times we are not able to participate in the race only.
We need a certain turnover for bidding for good work and getting empanelled. And for getting a good turnover we need good work (which we can get only after we are empanelled). So it is a catch 22 situation. What comes first, the cart or the horse?
Anurag Agarwal of Uptron is refusing to return the kickback given to him for the Gorakhpur Nagar Nigam project ( the kickback was for winning the project for us and that never happened). He is not only refusing to return the kickback, he is also refusing to return our Bank Guarantee submitted against a project for Uptron. The project was closed as Uptron was not willing to provide us with a running payment and it was not realistic for GC to continuously invest for six months (without any returns coming in).
The cistern in the toilet has been leaking and all the water from the tank just flowed out. So that is like money flowing out as water is damn expensive here in Okhla Industrial Area. Ramesh (our oldest office peon) took the responsibility and then just left without doing anything about it. As long as he has money in his pocket, he does not really wish to work. If he needs a holiday, he will manipulate his wife to call the office, or he will pose as an MCD official declaring that all the offices should remain closed for the day and that the MCD guys would come for an inspection. Anything to get his way and not work. And make money by con. If he is given cash to buy something, he will get it on cerdit and not pay. The credit is then transferred to the office account. He claims to have left drinking on a daily basis but it is quite doubtful. He really needs to go. Quite a character.
The house is as of now in the sphere of ‘manageability’. Of course the online pump needs to be changed to 1 H.P as all the neighboring motors are 1 H.P and more and our 1/2 H.P motor is not being able to pull any water in their presence, The silencer of the car still needs some work, the house could do with some whitewashing and we need a new water bottle and lunch box for appu and a coconut scraper ( amma broke it sometime earlier) with a non stick tawa. Ok That is all I remember as of now and I had rather not remember it.
The days are passing by and there is no project in sight. Its like we are walking in a desert and there is no water, not even a mirage for miles together. And the bank is hovering like a ferocious and hungry monster over our heads, ready to eat us up any moment. And the lease for the office is over. I mean, really, could it get any worse?
I think the way my phone rings, I should hang it around my neck 24/7. And all I have gained over the years is weight, debt and enemies. How awesome! And I have lost friends, family, charms (if any existed in the first place), peace, connection with HP.
And thus, another day is over.
